Seven things I love...

I was tagged by Kim to answer "Seven Things I Love"...I've never been "tagged" before!

  1. My friends and family! I don't know what I would do without all of you. Especially in the last month of my Mom being diagnosed with Cancer (update...she went for a small needle biopsy on the 6th and her test results did come back "positive" for Cancer, I will not know anything else until her appointment with the Oncologist on the 24th...prayers please) and helping Mike deal with his dying Uncle Ray (has been in and out of hospitals for about 2 years, coded on October 29th, was in ICU for 5 days, was taken off dialysis and has been in Hospice since the 11th...today Mike learned that his condition has worsened and doesn't have much longer).
  2. Collecting Hello Kitty things...don't really know exactly why or how this collection started. I've collected numerous things through out the years...flamingos, penguins, Elmo...strange mix! I also really like crosses! I think this started when watching the "Osbournes" and seeing all the crosses on their walls. I'm not overly religious so religion really doesn't have anything to do with it. I do have a cross tattoo on my left wrist as well for people who don't know.
  3. Coffee...coffee can turn a shitty day into an awesome day sometimes! I used to meet my friend April every Monday and Friday mornings at Starbuck's for a half an hour before work for coffee and gossip. It was so much fun! But then I bought a house and moved further away and neither one of us can get up early enough to still meet for coffee before work anymore :( How sad...
  4. "Whatever Martha!" Awesome show! As Mike says, "those are your type of chicks!" I mean really, what is not fun about watching shitty old Martha Stewart episodes and talking shit about her? Seriously!
  5. Ravelry...What an awesome site it is! I'm not what you call an experienced knitter, although without this site I wouldn't probably be the knitter that I am. They have everything on that site and I've met quite a few new friends there too!
  6. The Melting Pot...cheese and chocolate...enough said!
  7. Pop culture in general. Mike and I play "Xtreme Team Trivia" with our friends Ron and Donna every Wednesday night. It's trivia all about movies, music, tv, sports, ect... We always have fun listening to "our" music and kicking the other team's ass playing something we really enjoy!

OK, so if anyone really reads my blog...I'm wanting to know Ria, Kitty, Jen and Shelly love...

A time and date I will now never forget. This is the time that my mom called me to let me know "what is wrong with her." My mom has been complaining of chest pains and being sore around her ribs, or as she says "right below my bra." My mom went to the doctors on the 22nd, the day after her 57th birthday, to find out what was wrong with her. Since then she has had a series of CAT scans, bone density tests and a mammogram. Today she went to the doctors and was told that she has lung cancer. No, she does not smoke...the question I've heard numerous times today. I'm not sure all the details yet because she hasn't told me everything and honestly I don't know that she knows all the details yet either. She goes back to the doctor's on Thursday and I plan to go with her to ask all the questions I have and hopefully get answers to everything that I/she needs to know.

My mom and I have talked quite a bit about cancer. Talked about the "Cancer Policy" at our work and how nowadays people are silly not to get it because of cancer being so common. How we are bound and determined to get it sometime in our lives because of all our family members having some shape/form of it. But now it's one of those things like "Hey! You weren't supposed to get it! You're too young to have cancer. (like there's such a thing)" I think i'm worried, scared, uneasy, unknowing and not sure how to accept that my mom now has cancer.

Arrrgh...

My pirate name is:
Dirty Anne Vane

You're the pirate everyone else wants to throw in the ocean -- not to get rid of you, you understand; just to get rid of the smell. You tend to blend into the background occaisionally, but that's okay, because it's much easier to sneak up on people and disembowel them that way. Arr!

Swap Time!

OK, so once again I'm participating in the Caffeine Addicts swap on Ravelry! I've had so much fun in the past and always look forward to what to get my swap buddy and what I'm going to receive as well. Well as you can see above...I've actually knitted something! OMG can you freakin' believe it? And I've finished something! Holy shit Batman! This is a "T" dishcloth that I made for my swap buddy Tiffany. She doesn't know she is my swap buddy...but will soon once I finally get my lazy ass to the post office and mail her stuff out! I did warn her that I wasn't going to get the package out on time, but I did go over budget so that should count for something right?

Sierra Jade

Sierra Jade
Born 6/20/08
6 pounds, 10 ounces
19 inches long

Yes, I know...I'm extremely late...and have not blogged for about 2 months! I am an aunt again! My sister Nicole gave birth to Sierra on 6/20...due to an emergency C-section because Nicole's blood pressure was elevated. Sierra was not due to come until July 5th. Nicole and Sierra are both doing fine and will be moving to Illinois shortly to be with Daddy Todd once Sierra is a little bigger.

The Cure

Very awesome show last night for those that were not there. Robert Smith still rocking!
I was a little nervous that we were going to have a repeat of the Depeche Mode show because Robert's throat was still bothering him since doing a show in Chicago a couple of nights before KC.
Awesome show despite Robert's voice at times. They played my favorite song "Lullaby" and that is all they had to have sung for me to be happy!

Pam's Pasties

I got these little numbers all ready to give to my Human Resources Manager Pam at work for her birthday. She and her husband like to joke with me about "knitting not like grandma's knitting anymore!" And we go into discussions about all the AWESOME things you can knit and of course...PASTIES came up. I've signed up to be a part of the Bad Knit Girl's Pastie Swap Par Deux! This was a trial pair to try out the pattern before making a pair for my swap partner.

KIM IS THE COFFEE QUEEN!

Thank you so very much for sending me some more of this AWESOME coffee KIM! If you look at my older blog posts Kim was a prior swap partner I had on Ravelry. This coffee came all the way from Canada! Which makes me want to go back...is Toronto far from you KIM? I could so visit again!

MO ROCKS!

Damn I'm a slacker and don't do this "blog" thing much huh? Well guess what peeps...I'm gonna post like mad whack tonight!!

OK ...first off...BIG THANKS TO MO!! Mo was my swap partner for the "Caffeine Addicts" swap on Ravelry. So many awesome things I got! Thank you very much!

NKOTB WTF?!?

Looks like the boys are going to be doing a reunion show...can you believe it? OK...if my memory serves me right, I went to their show on July 5, 1990 at Sandstone Amphitheatre. Opening was Rick Wes, Perfect Gentlemen and Tommy Page...whom I freakin' loved back in the day. Honestly the only reason I went to this concert was because my cousin Karen was DEEPLY, SCARY-LIKE IN LOVE with Joey McIntyre and had an extra ticket and asked if I wanted to go with her and my aunt. Well...OK...since I was mildy infatuated with Jonathan Knight I figured "hell, I'll go...free ticket". I want to say this was my first concert, I also want to say that I remember watching the concert with the binoculars and becoming a little misty eyed by the site of Jonathan dancing and singing on stage...COME ON PEOPLE, I WAS 13!!! And yes...I had NKOTB sheets when I was younger. Can't remember if I got them from the grandparents or my mom, but yes, I had them...
So will I go to the reunion show if it comes to KC? Sure what the hell...I need a little torture and nostalgia. And I'm sure I know some friends that would go with me...Christy? :)

When the boss is away....

The co-workers will play!
OK, we are bored today at work...well maybe not "bored" but shit, it's like 50-something odd
degrees outside, sunny and who in their right minds really wants to be stuck inside
a big "morton like building" working?
So what do we do you ask?
We buy "Lickety Lix" freakin' foot long bomb pops off the ice cream truck and
attack our co-workers with them! That's right...show that Accounts Payable
chick that you have a "Lickety Lix" and you know how to use it!
OK, OK...I know that sounded bad but you don't have to
work with her sometimes...it could've been a lot worse!! LOL :)

Am I cute or what?!?

I finally got my Hello Kitty hat done for my Hello Kitty Mystery KAL3.
I'm so excited it is done and didn't really take me very much time at all! And this was the very first ever hat I've done as well. So I followed a pattern, made something I've never made before and finished it! So very freakin' exciting. Now I'm somewhat patiently waiting for my next project from the KAL to do. WOW I freakin' finished something finally!

Who's a slacker?

I AM! OMG...I can't believe I've not posted since December! OK, maybe I can... I've been knitting, I just need to take pics of what I have been knitting. Let's see...I started a Log Cabin Blanket, 2 socks (not the same of course!) and last night I began knitting on a Hello Kitty hat. I've been off and on motivated to knit. Of course being sick for over a week didn't help things either! I've not been to UFO Night at MisKnits in forever either! I didn't even go to the Guild meeting Monday. I actually had every intention of going...just didn't make it out of AT&T til 6:45. I am the new proud owner of my lovely burgandy Blackberry Curve phone that is cute as hell! Why do "cute as hell" things have to be so damn expensive?

Hmmm...what else is going on with me? Well...I'm counting down the months til Mike and I move out of our apartment. Where are we moving you ask? Hell if I know!?! I signed up for RentSourceInc.com for their listings and have been updating those on a daily basis. Then I also get these weird thoughts in my head about buying a house again. Unfortunately I don't know if I can actually purchase a house without actually having enough dinero saved up for a down payment. If anyone knows how this can be done, let me know! I just find it crazy that i'm being raped by living in Johnson County paying over $900 a month for rent on a two bedroom apartment! Granted...we do have quite a bit of space in our apartment but over $900 is crazy as hell!

Also I have been off and on thinking about what Mike and I are going to do about our wedding. It's a second marriage for both of us. Do we go fancy/simple? Do we go church/uncoventional? We are both pretty much set on asking if Jeff Scheel singer of band "Gravity Kills" would marry us since he is licensed. But OMG...during the ceremony I would be spending all my time oohing and ahhing and wiping my chin off from the excessive amount of drull that would be coming out of my mouth watching Jeff though! OMG...I used to go the the GK shows just to watch Jeff. Slightly obsessive! I mean, on my desk at work I have two pics of Jeff and I...the ex husband would ask "why do you have Jeff and you pics on your desk at work but none of the two of us?" Geee....
